ICER
has developed Accreditation Schemes in preparation for the WEEE
Directive which will be implemented in the UK in 2004. This directive
will require increased recycling and re-use of electrical and electronic
equipment.
Producers will need
to use recyclers who can demonstrate that treatment and recycling
have been carried out in accordance with the directive and that
the appropriate recovery and recycling targets have been met
The schemes are
voluntary and open to all recyclers and refurbishers - commercial
or community sector - who can demonstrate that they operate to high
standards of environmental performance.
