WEEE
At our UK recycling centre of excellence we can handle all your WEEE. We offer treatment, recovery and recycling of all the ten categories of WEEE. We are confident that our rates are extremely competitive and that our service levels are unmatched in the industry.

We endeavour to ensure maximum re-use occurs wherever possible and we are fully committed to sustainability by channelling as much equipment as possible into the re-use route, wherever practical.

Fridges and freezers
On the back of the ODS regulations, significant investment in a state of the art fridge recycling plant at Capital Valley was undertaken to specifically handle domestic and commercial fridges, freezers and air conditioning units.
The recycling plant de-gasses and processes up to 7,000 fridges and freezers each week and can operate 24 hours each day. During the shredding process, residual CFC in the carcasses is safely extracted under carefully controlled conditions using carbon fibre agents and sophisticated cryogenic technology.

CFC destruction technology delivers fugitive emissions standards of <= 0.02%. The quality separation plant ensures that ferrous metal, copper, aluminium and mixed plastics are segregated to an extremely high standard. All resulting material is sold on for refinement and remanufacturing new products and recycling rates of 95% is achieved.

TVs and monitors containing CRTs
Many televisions and computer monitors will contain cathode ray tubes (CRTs) and are therefore considered to be hazardous products under the hazardous waste legislation. Because of this, they have to be dealt with separately on site and all contaminants must be removed before they can be recycled further.

We have the capabilities and access to facilities to handle all CRT equipment and ensure its safe disposal.

The full process involves the CRTs being removed from the TVs and monitors, as well as any other hazardous substances such as batteries, PCBs, flexes/cords, fluids etc.

CRTs are considered hazardous because they contain leaded glass, as well as non-leaded glass. The two types of glass are separated, along with the fluorescent layer, electron gun, shadowmask, iron oxide and graphite coating from the glass.

The recovery and recycling rates achieved through this process are around 95% of the total input of equipment.

Confidential destruction
Many organisations (such as banks, building societies, various government departments, large businesses, the police and the military) need to ensure that confidential information that may be contained within redundant IT equipment is destroyed in a safe and secure manner. We can handle such requirements for confidential destruction of IT hardware at our secure recycling facilities.

All IT equipment is carefully dismantled, with any hazardous substances (such as batteries or PCBs) removed by a manual process. A series of shredders cutting to various sizes then destroy the equipment to the required standards demanded by the government.

We provide certification for the confidential destruction of equipment and, if required, we can arrange for our customers to witness the destruction on site.
